Diem Chau
28 February, 2008
Seattle artist Diem Chau {27} wanted to ply everyday objects to tell their own stories. “I love the whole idea of ‘This is what I have so this is what I’ll make,’” she says. “It’s arts and crafts meets survivalist.“
ReadyMade mag- Chau sculpts tiny wax Crayola crayons into colorful totems (her figures, which take about four hours to craft are exquisitely detailed).
* Her new work reminds me of a combination of melanie bilenker,
claire coles and lisa solomon’s creations.
