‘The Suitcase Series’ presents in glorious detail the lives of select artists and designers. The books are image-based, full of artwork, sketchbook pages, beautiful photographs and artifacts from where the artists live and work. The first volume features our favourite Camilla Engman {Gothenburg, Sweden}, a professional illustrator and exhibiting artist, her images are whimsical, poignant, humorous and insightful. Camilla’s book includes a mini booklet full of Morran’s adventures, a glassine envelope containing 4 postcards, and a baggage tag/bookmark: all held together with a custom-printed band.

London based artist Riitta Ikonen was commissioned to create an installation piece through YCN for actionaid’s put your foot down campaign combatting violence against women and helping to end HIV and AIDS. Ikonen transformed 200 pairs of old shoes donated to the project into a special installation to coincide with international women’s day on march 8th. via

“I was inspired by the shapes of cliffs and terraced farming on mountains; by the rich world of textures in coral reefs; by the change of color within the decay and erosion of the earth.The basic concept of life, the cycle of a seed growing into a plant whose fibers can be used to make natural fabrics, which in turn can be used to make sustainable footwear is beautiful and idealistic. The final goal is the reduction of impact upon that which I find inspiration – nature. What is born from nature returns to it in the end”.
