So often we see something on the sets of a movie or tv show that inspires us, the interior decoration in particular evoking an emotion or memory that influences our design decisions: What are your favourites? (apartment therapy)
*Amélie, In the Mood for Love, Lucky Number Sleven, Sex in the City, The West Wing
My favorite of all times, where I could live very happily is Paradiso Perduto, the home of Miss Dinsmoor in Great Expectations!!!I love it, “Chickaboom”
I am ALWAYS looking at the sets on movies and tv shows…oh there was a film a couple of years ago – British… with a family living in a castle…cant remember the name..just beatiful!!!!
I haven’t had a TV in over 4O years…but movies I cannot live without! The latest Marie Antoinette, that set design had me speechless!
I’m with Corey – Marie Antoinette!
any Doris Day film haha! love it!!
I also loved the recent movie ‘the Holiday’ that quaint english cottage and its interiors was wonderful!
‘I capture the castle’ – the film is ok but worth watching for the set and setting :)
I know what you mean – I have that all the time. Amelie is definitely an inspiration. x
amelie and in the mood for love definitely! we have lucky number slevin at home…it’s next so i’m excited to see it now. i also loved the apartment in the vertical ray of the sun. those morning scenes were beautiful.
this is tough. I don’t actually follow lots of tv shows, but I always like the settings of The Apprentice shows. Does that count?
What a great question. One of my favorite recent “house”
backdrops is the beach house in As Good As It Gets with Diane Keaton ! The design aesthetic in that house really spoke to me. And in the earlier movie Someone To Watch Over Me. The highend apt. in that movie was just glorious.
I know there are so many others. Will be thinking about this all day.
k
it has to be amelie!! just discovered the “pig-monsieur-with-a-bathrobe-lamp” in a magazine – quite tempting ;)
LOVED Amelie’s apartment – really loved the Bennet residence in the new Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly… so lovely…
Amelie!! i love amelie :) i wish i could decorate my apartment like that ;) it looks homey and comfy :p
Me, I’m sliding into the wonderful house in ‘Mon Oncle’… see you, g xo
amelie! i also am inspired by both charlie and the chocolate factories. and anything with a dark victorian theme.
amelie for sure…. but i also just love the feel of the visuals of some movies… like lost in translation…. i really like thinking about this, though
I have a new one, just watched Casino Royale some of the interiors are amazing.
Yes, Casino Royal was one of my favortite movies this year and I don’t even like james bond. k
i agree with lisa, both amelie and lost in translation are my favourites!
lost in translation was also a visual inspiration for me… the overall mood of the film. hmmm. i did not care much for marie antoinette but the sets and costumes (and towers of sweets!)… oh my.
